Cookie Policy
WHAT ARE COOKIES?
LK’s website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer (or internet-enabled device) by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, as well as to provide website usage information to the website owner. Cookies may store user preferences and other information.
This policy explains how LK uses cookies, when your consent is required and provides you with information as to how you can exercise your rights in relation to the cookies.
Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, LK Law) are called “first party cookies”. Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called “third party cookies”.
Third party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g. like advertising, interactive content and analytics). The parties that set these third party cookies can recognise your computer when you visit their website and also when you visit certain other websites.
Please review our Privacy Policy for more details about how we use your personal information generally.
WHY DO WE USE COOKIES?

These cookies do not directly store personal data about you but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you allow these cookies you may experience targeted advertising based on your visit to this website. |
We may also use Web Beacons, also called ‘pixel tags’ or GIFs, which are small image files, sometimes invisible, placed within webpages and web-based messaging, such as newsletters, which work together with cookies to recognise visitors and how they interact with content. THIRD PARTY WEBSITES
Our website may, from time to time, link through to third party websites which may also use cookies over which we have no control. We recommend that you check the relevant third party’s privacy policies for information about any cookies they use.
OTHER COOKIES
Where you receive a communication from us such as a marketing email, event invitation or other direct promotional electronic communication, we may collect information using cookies about you in the following ways:
- View as web page: If you click on the “view it as a web page” link, a session cookie is passed in the link so that the webpage is personalised in the same way as the email.
- Links to web pages: If you click on any web link in the communication through to LK’s website, we pass a cookie in the link to the webpage which we use to log this activity on our contact relationship database.
- Unsubscribe: If you click unsubscribe, we will automatically log this information on our database. If you unsubscribe from any email communication, invitation or alert we send to you, we will continue to store your personal data on a “marketing suppression list” to record your preference.
- Event RSVP buttons: in our event invitations and confirmations we provide buttons to allow you to accept, decline, cancel and register (if you are not the original recipient of the email) for that event. Clicking on these buttons will pass a cookie so we can record your choice in our database to help us manage the event.
You may unsubscribe from our marketing lists if you are unhappy with this approach. You can do so by clicking on the unsubscribe button in a recent email or by contacting us at dataprotection@lk.law.
CONSENT AND CONTROL
You can manage which cookies apply to you by registering your preferences upon visiting LK’s website. You may allow all, deny or allow selection to specify which cookies are to apply or not. By using our websites you agree that, unless you have set your device’s browser to deny cookies, we can place the types of cookies set out above on your device, and use that data in accordance with this policy.
You can also control which cookies you want to be stored on your computer through the settings in your web browser. You can set or amend your web browser controls to allow or deny cookies. If you choose to deny cookies, you may still use our website though your access to some functionality and areas of our website may be restricted or not work properly.
Additionally, most advertising networks offer you a way to opt out of targeted advertising. Please note this does not mean you will not receive advertising related to all third-party cookies. LK is not responsible for these third-party cookies.
CHANGES
We may need to update this Cookie Policy in the future and so encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we are using cookies. This policy was last updated in January 2023.
