Lipman Karas LLP is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Greaves as a principal in the firm. The appointment is part of the firm’s international growth strategy and the first lateral hire at partner level in London since the opening of the UK office in 2012 which now has 3 principals and 13 professionals.
Adam joins from CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP and focuses principally on cross-border disputes. His expertise includes post M&A claims, shareholder disputes, civil fraud and asset tracing claims, and professional negligence. In the past 30 years, he has worked on some of the largest fraud cases brought before the Commercial Court in London including Motorola v Uzan, Chrysler Pension Trustees v Stolzenburg and Prince Mohamed v Said Ayas. Adam also advises clients on the Bribery Act 2010 and has worked on investigations brought by the US DOJ or the SEC under the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
He has extensive experience working with clients in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, cooperating with leading local law firms in numerous jurisdictions and has dealt with a number of high profile fraud cases, including Tajik Aluminium Smelter and arbitration against the Governor and the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
His work spans many industry sectors including insurance, banking, investment, metals, telecommunications, diamond manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, energy, real estate investment and professional services.
Adam was admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts, England and Wales in 1986.
Prior to joining Lipman Karas, Adam was a partner in several international law firms in the City of London including two American law firms Steptoe & Johnson and Maguire Woods giving him extensive experience working with US clients on a global basis.
